Not french bread - but super tasty April 9, 2010 A. Moyer (Northeast OH) I bought the mix in hopes that I could create a bread for myself to use at Easter dinner. It does not taste like french bread but it does taste better than any gluten free bread that I have bought. It can be sliced thick or thin and it makes great french toast, sandwiches, garlic bread...you get the picture. It was not hard to make, though I did let it rise for too long which meant that it came spilling out of my loaf pan. I did not have time to dig out my breadmaker, but if it has a gluten free setting, I will be ordering this fantastic stuff by the case!!
My son loves it! March 25, 2010 Brenda Breitkreutz (Wisner, Nebraska) My 8-yr old son loves this bread. He can't have wheat or dairy, so finding a bread for him is not easy. I've tried several different mixes and recipes, and this one has worked the best for us. It turns out every time, it doesn't break the bank, it freezes well, and, most importantly, the texture and flavor are as close to "real" bread as we've found. We make a loaf, slice it right away, and store it in the freezer, 2 slices per ziploc bag, so we can get out just a slice or two at a time. It's great.
Versatile mix that we use often. February 24, 2010 C. Wollin (IL) About once a week I make two long 2-1/2" wide by about 15" long bread "pans" out of foil and spray with Pam. I spoon the dough into them, smooth it with wet hands and let rise until it's doubled, then bake for about 25 minutes. This makes two nice sized baguettes. If I'm in a hurry, I'll just make it in the breadmaker. The kids like for me to make soft baked pretzels with this, and you can find the recipe (and many more) on the gluten free pantry website.
My husband's new favorite gluten free bread! February 21, 2010 GF Wife (Olympia, WA USA) This bread bakes up great in the bread machine, and makes a wonderful sandwich loaf. This is my husband's favorite new bread - he said to stop ordering other pre-made breads we were ordering. This looks and tastes like read bread! The Gluten-Free Pantry Country French Bread Mix, 22-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 6)
Lives up to expectations February 14, 2010 Marisa E. Haugen (Indiana) This is a great product for someone who is newly gluten free. I used it the first year I went gf. However, it is all starch and white rice flour, so for someone interested in creating healthy baking options, its not the item to go to. For an occasional night when you just want a mix for pizza, it lives up to expectations.
