Good purchase. Takes a little practice to use well. July 2, 2008 Joseph M. Stapp (Dawsonville, GA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased this for my wife. We had different results. Her tortillas broke apart. I think this is because she was using the recipe in the manual. I found you have to add a small capful of oil and a little more water until the consistency is more moist and doesn't stick to your hands very much.
Take about a half-dollar-sized ball and put in the middle of the iron. The temp should be between medium and high. Lightly press down on the iron. You will hear noise (air escaping the dough). Hold down for 30 seconds, pressing a little harder after 10 seconds. If you press down too hard, the dough will come out of the sides and the tortilla will break apart.
Once you have practiced this a couple times, it works very well. I think the other negative reviews were due to having the Saachi on too low of a temperature setting. It is actually fun after some practice!
The only reason I rated it a 4 instead of a 5 is due to the need to practice and the recipe being incorrect in the directions.
Makes wonderful Roti-until it stops working!!!! March 17, 2008 D. Samanta We purchased this product and were pleased with the results of the roti, until it stopped working. We then replaced it-three times! It only lasts about two or three months before the heating stops working. It is too bad, but don't buy this product as it isn't worth it!
This is a great item to buy February 24, 2008 sak pot (CA, USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This product is excellent to make rotis. it all depends how you prepare the dough for rotis. if the dough is proper, therotis come out excellently. After making a few trials, then the rotis came out good. Initially, I was also of the opinion that this is a waste product. After using and practicing it for couple of times, it turned good. use the max temp setting.
Good Buy! October 18, 2007 bharat 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this to make rotis and am very happy with the purchase. The rotis come out great, and they puff up really well. The first few weeks the rotis used to dry up fast, but after using the roti maker for a couple of weeks, the quality of rotis improved. I usually keep the temperature control in the high position. Probably the lower positions would be useful only to reheat.
I loved it until it died - twice July 30, 2007 Melanie R. Troxell (Lubbock, TX) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I love what this machine does. It works perfectly - when it works. The first one I used about 25 times and the heating element went out. The replacement was used about 10 times and the same thing happened. I purchased from two companies, because the first one (Sam Stores) sent me a 220 and then was RUDE and then from Worldwideelectronicsusa (Bargain Offers/Bombay electronics) and they, too, are SOOOO bad at customer service!! They're rude, can hardly speak intelligible English and they play games. They also have a lousy customer database and are just generally the worst company I've ever done business with.
