Finally, my search for the perfect breadbox ends! June 3, 2008 Scaryguy1991 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I've spent the last 4 years searching for that perfect breadbox. Many times I thought the search was over, only to have a faulty door that doesn't close all the way, leading to soggy and moldy bread, or an uneven bottom that leads to endless wobbling. When I first laid eyes upon this breadbox, I didn't think much of it. To tell the truth, it looks like a crockpot. But I had been through so many others, I decided to give this a try.
The first thing I noticed when I took this out of the box was the surprisingly comfortable handles. They actually make me want to hold this breadbox, which has lead to many awkward situations. The box is made of a durable metal and covered in an eye pleasing paint that is nearly chip resistant and the color is great. There are a few different color choices available, so you just have to pick whichever one fits your kitchen best. The best thing about the appearance of the box though is the fact that the word "BREAD" is stamped right on there. Never will I forget what this box contains.
This breadbox doesn't have a sliding door like many I've owned, but instead utilizes a cover that simply lies ontop the box. The genius part of this cover, though, is that it doubles as a breadboard. Now, I'm not fancy enough to own the kind of bread that needs to be cut. I'm more of a store-bought, sliced-loaf kind of guy. But often times, I'll create a towering sandwich on the brink of toppling, spilling it's precious contents all over the floor, and I'll realize it would be smart to cut it into more controllable portions. This is when the breadboard shines. And I don't even have to take an eye off my highly vulnerable sandwich, leaving it open to predators (such as cats) to search for a breadboard. This combo couldn't be more convenient.
As I said before, the store-bought, sliced-loaf bread that comes in a bag is the main meatholder in my sandwiches, and often times after opening the bag, I just don't have the patience to close it again. Sure, twist-ties are simple and easy to use, but their use requires certain amounts of coordination that I simply don't obtain when in a sandwich induced frenzy. With this breadbox, it's no big deal. Throw the breadbag in, open or closed, and it stays fresh.
Overall, this is an ideal breadbox for everyone, from the casual sandwich eater to the hardcore bread consumer. The cover/breadboard is genius and the box itself keeps bread 100% fresh. My search has finally ended.
Classic Vintage October 9, 2007 K. Simpson (Miami, FL) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The appeal of old treasures from the yesteryears seem to be increasingly popular and this reproduction holds its own vintage charm. The bread bin is in my opinion is a little pricey but cost aside, it has a very handy lid/bread cutting board and very spacious interior perhaps big enough to fit 2 square loaves of sliced bread and then some. The lid does not have an airtight seal but has an all-around groove on one side of the board for a secure fit on top the bread bin. A previous reviewer mentioned "ventilation holes"...a feature which made me hesitant to purchase this. But hey- my bin doesn't have any holes and I am thrilled about that! Does that mean that they got a damaged one? I don't know but my breads tend to stay fresher and last longer when stored in this bread bin. The only thing I didn't like was that when I received the product it had a bit of a pale greenish-yellow tint to the blue coloring on the exterior. I cleaned it with some warm soapy water and I am not sure if it has since faded but I see blue from across the room. Overall...yes I would definitely recommend this but I do think the price should be reduced.
Big & Funky BreadBox May 12, 2007 E. Gordon 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
It's hard to find a decent-sized bread box (most are so puny), but this one does the trick. I love the fresh green color, the cover that doubles as a slicing board, the little unobtrusive ventilation holes, and the unexpected seashell pink (!) of the interior. If you're looking for something that won't get noticed, this isn't for you. (It's no shrinking violet.) But if you want bread box that's well-made, "different," and roomy (mine's currently holding a loaf of bread, a package of hamburger buns, AND a package of hotdog buns), this is a great choice.

Nice Product overall January 9, 2007 A. ORANGE (New Bethlehem, PA United States) 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
My wife had to have this. It is nice ill have to admit but the price is much too high for what you are getting. These could be selling at some mart store for 1/2 the price and they would still make a 100% profit. Its well made and looks nice in a country home. Just over priced
