REAL food for celiacs! March 2, 2008 Virginia Golato (Columbus, Ohio USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I got this book for Christmas. I am 17 and have Celiac Disease. I need to learn to cook for when I am on my own..and this book has easy to follow recipes, and the food tastes GOOD. I was overwhelmed trying to buy foods at the health food store and tasting packaged Gluten free foods that are not so good. Susan has shown that you dont need a second job just to afford to eat GF......and everything she uses is found at the local supermarket. The baked pasta is great, my whole family enjoyed it and could not tell it was GF.The idea for sandwiches with waffles is awesome! I have many favorites, My mom loves this book too, but I appreciate that I can actually makes things from it..so many cookbooks are too gourmet and the food just does not appeal to me or my famly. This book is great if you like Good Tasting Food, the name is perfect, "Family Favorites" I highly recommend this book ~Mary www.glutenfreemary.com
Yummy and simple, no-compromising February 17, 2008 Anne C. Milling (Chicago, IL) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I often make the crock pot stew and the spaghetti with meat sauce, they're easy and my family loves them. My kids' friends don't even know they're eating gluten-free food. No-compromising recipes. What's especially great about this book is it clues-you-in to what basic ingredients you can get at the grocery store that are gluten free - I didn't know Lipton's Recipe Secrets Onion Soup Mix was OK to use. It also takes the guess work out of which gluten free products are the most successful. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants simple recipes that taste yummy.
